Happy April Fool’s Day!!!

Thanks to everyone who has liked our social media pages. It has been fun and a little scary reading books live on Facebook, but WOW it is so nice to be able to connect with some of you.

Tomorrow I will be posting a video of a science project and also adding to my happiness jar. I hope all of our students are thinking of things that make them happy. Like I said, it’s the people I do my activities that make me happy the most. We are fortunate to be able to spend time with our families and connect with so many others electronically during this social distancing time. I know it’s not the same, believe me when I say everyone at Orem Elementary is missing our students and families far beyond what words can say.

Today we had some teachers come and wrap yellow ribbons around our school yard. We stayed our 6ft apart, but oh, how we enjoyed talking to each other in person and seeing a few students walk by as they picked up their lunch.

This Friday, we will be doing a car parade around our school boundaries. Please see the link below for the route that we will take. I hope it’s nice weather, and I know that our teachers and I are looking forward to seeing as many of our students as we can.

Please check your mail – like the post office mail, each family was mailed a little something for our Lemon Drop Week. We mailed a lot of items all at once, but be on the watch for a little something.

Next week is Spring Break. Originally, April 6th was supposed to be a Snow Make Up day, but as of now, it is not. Spring Break will be from April 6th – 10th – no school work will be assigned for April 6th.

If your family still needs a Chromebook, please email our Computer Specialist: [email protected]. This Friday will be the last day that Chromebooks will be available to check out.

A reminder that our office hours are from 8:00am – 12:00pm. The school will be locked, but if you have any questions, you can call the school. If we are busy on another call, leave a message and we will get back to you.

Breakfast and lunch pick up is from 9:30am – 11:00am.

Have a great day!!!

Good Afternoon OES Families,

We have officially completed our second week of online learning. Great job everyone!!!

I just wanted to update you on some changes that will be in effect this upcoming Monday. Monday, March 30, 2020 the school doors will be locked. We will still have employees in the office answering phones, and teachers will be coming in and out, however students will not be allowed in the school. If you need something, just give us a call and we will come to the door and bring you whatever you are needing.

If you are still in need of a Chromebook, please contact our Computer Specialist, Megan Carter ([email protected]) for an appointment to check one out.

Good Afternoon OES Families,

I hope things are going well for you at home. Our teachers are working so hard, and I know you are too. We still have Chromebooks to check out if anyone needs one. Please contact our computer specialist, Megan Carter: [email protected] and she will help you with that.

I don’t want to overwhelm anyone, but I have a few favors to ask because as of right now, we won’t be back in school until May 1st.

First of all, if you know of any students who do not have internet access or a device, will you please let me know. I know many of you have neighbors and friends who may be in this situation and I want to make sure that all of our students have access to education. We have been calling families personally, but I just want to double check to make sure we aren’t missing anyone.

Next, this is something that has never been done before – teachers teaching from home and students learning from home. It’s quite exciting! We are still on schedule for our end of year activities and our yearbook is in need of pictures. If you as parents are ok with sending some of your students working from home that could be featured in our yearbook, will you please send Maria Wood ([email protected]) pictures of your students working from home. Thank you!

Here is some information from our community. As always, please refer to the Alpine School District website for any updates. I will try and keep you updated as soon as possible.

Breakfast and lunch are still being served at the school from 8:30am – 11:00am. You can pick up both breakfast and lunch at the same time so you don’t have to make two trips. This is on the east end of the school, right outside the gym.

Our office hours are from 8:00am – 12:00pm. We had scheduled Kindergarten registration for this week. We are almost up and running to take care of everything online. We will have a link on our website and I will send out more communication as soon as possible.

Here is the newest newsletter from Hope 4 Utah.

As always, please let me know if you need anything.

This week’s wondering is:

What is your favorite thing about learning at home? Mrs. West sent out something to her class and asked them to create a hashtag about it. If you would like, please comment on our Facebook Page or respond directly to this email. I will post as many responses back as possible.

Have a great day.
