Good Morning OES Families

 

We are celebrating a great year, our students, our families and our wonderful teachers.  This is our focus for this month.  If you would like some ideas to celebrate your child/children, please see the attached.

Don’t forget that this Friday is the deadline to turn in your library books. 

 

Talent Show Reminder:

We will have 2 options for the Talent Show this year. Live during music class, Mrs.Hancock has the sign up sheets.(Share your talent-piano, singing, musical instruments) The first 2 weeks in May during your regular music time in the music room.

Video your talent and send to Mrs. Carter- [email protected] 

2 mins. maximum length! The videos are DUE SATURDAY MAY 14 @ 5:00 p.m.(Share your talent- dance,cheer, gymnastics, sports,visual art, hobbies… )

You can choose to do both in class and video options.We will have the video available the last week of school for the students and parents to watch.

Let the Sharing of Talents Begin!

 Our lunch manager wanted to remind everyone that beginning next year student breakfasts will cost $1.00 and student lunches will cost $1.75.  Please see the attached flyers for information about free and reduced lunch.

Here is a message from our PTA:

There will be a School Board Candidate “Meet and Greet” and Panel Discussion at our school on Friday, May 20th from 6-7pm. We would love all parents to come attend and get to know those who are running to represent our part of Orem the School Board. Please come with any questions or concerns you would like to ask the candidates.  Please see the attached flier.

Please remind your student(s) to check the lost and found for any items they are missing.  Parents are also encouraged to check as well.  All items left after the last day of school will be donated to charity.

Good Morning OES Families,

We are on the home stretch of the 2021-2022 school year. We have a lot of fun things planned for this month. Many of our grade levels have some activities planned, grade level teachers will send out emails with that information.

May 6 – Last Day of Home Reading

May 24 – Field Day

May 26 – Last day of school – NOTE: The last day of school is a short one. Students will attend school from 9:15am – 10:45am.

The following is a message from our Media Specialist, Mrs. Tanner:

May 2-6 is the last week to check out books in our OES library. All books are due Friday, May 13th. All students who bring their books back on their library day, May 9-13, will receive a scratch and sniff bookmark and all classes who return all books on their library day that week will receive candy bars for the class.

Please be on the lookout for some library books that have gone missing from our library. Check the spines for our labels and inside stamp.

Good Morning OES Families,

We are really excited for White Ribbon Week.  It begins tomorrow.  This is a great week to discuss internet safety with your family and talk about the lessons that are being taught this week.  

 

Each day during White Ribbon Week, the children learn a principle of online behavior. The following are the focus for each day:

 

Tuesday: “I have the power to turn it off”

Wednesday: “I have the power to tell a trusted adult if anything doesn’t feel right”

Thursday: “I have the power to ask before I download”

Friday: “I have the power to help my friends make safe choices online”

 

We also have graduation pictures scheduled for Kindergarten and 6th grade students tomorrow, Tuesday, April 26, 2022.  Our roof top picture will be taken the following day – Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

 

The following is some community information:

 

Orem City is putting on a celebration of the Earth!

It is on April 22 at 4:30 – 6:00 PM at the Orem City Center Park North Pavilion.  

We will be making homemade bird feeders, weaving the grocery bags into mats, going on a nature scavenger hunt, storytime with the library, and much more!

Happy Wednesday, OES Families,

We would like to thank the PTA for providing such a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week for our teachers.  Tomorrow before school, they will be selling flowers.  Please see attached flier for more information.

Don’t forget that Friday is our home reading prize day.  

Also, next week we have our book fair in the Media Center. The attached flier has more information.

Finally, as the school year is winding down, please let us know if your child/children will not be returning to Orem Elementary next year.  We are finalizing numbers and this would really help in our planning.
