Good Morning OES Families,

I hope you enjoyed your snow day yesterday.  We are waiting to hear if/when we have the make up day, more information will be coming from the district soon.

The following is a list of events for the month of February:

Feb. 3-7 – Box Tops Drive

Feb. 5-6 – Parent Teacher Conferences

Tomorrow, February 5, 2020 and Thursday, February 6, 2020 we will have student led conferences for parents.  Come and celebrate what your child is/has been learning. What this means is that you don’t need to sign up for a time to attend with your child, you can come anytime between 4:00pm – 5:30pm and then from 6:00pm – 7:30pm on both days.  Teachers will be having dinner from 5:30pm-6:00pm. Please do not come during this time so that teachers can enjoy their dinner. 

Feb. 4-7 – Book Fair

The book fair is also this week.  It will be in the media center and will be open the following times:

Tuesday, February 4th – 9:00am – 4:00pm

Wednesday, February 5th – 9:00am -7:30pm

Thursday, February 6th – 9:00am – 7:30pm

Friday, February 7th – 9:00am – 1:00pm

Feb. 7 – Storytelling Festival Kick Off

Because of the snow day yesterday, we had to reschedule our storytelling kick off assembly to Friday at 12:30pm.  Our resident storyteller, Randy Evensen will be sharing his talents with our students. 

Feb. 10-14 – Hope Week

Next week – is Orem Elementary’s Hope Week.  We will have our kick-off assembly on Monday.

Feb. 24 – Family Skate Night

Feb. 25-28 – Storytelling Festival

The following is information from the Parent Center about the February Parent Night:

 Keeping it Under Control: Self-regulation strategies

Simple usable strategies that can be implemented at home and in other settings to support your student in developing self-regulation skills. Additionally, how to generalize these skills across settings to increase skill independence.

-Recognition of feelings/emotions: zones of regulation

-Parent strategies to support students regulate

-Independent student strategies: mindfulness, self awareness and self management

 Pre-register at https://utahparentcenter.org/events/

 Open to all parents who have a student who is struggling, on a Section 504 Plan or an IEP.

Childcare is not available.

Good Afternoon OES Families,

 This week we will have our final spelling bee on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020 at 12:30pm. Good luck to all of hard working students who will be participating.

Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020 is the 100th day of school. Happy 100’s Day Everyone!

 Looking towards next month, we have Parent Teacher Conference on February 5th and 6th, 2020. These are student lead conferences.  More information will be coming next week.

Next week the PTA is holding a teacher supply day on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.  Please see the attached flyers for more information.

Our Spelling Bee gets underway next week.  Good luck to all students in grades 1st – 6th participating. 

 Preschool registration begins January 28th, at 10:00am.  Registration is on a first come first serve basis, please see the following link if you are interested:
