During ‘Hope Week”, (Jan. 28 – Feb.1) we would like to have every student paint a rock with a word of hope on it.  These rocks will be placed out front in our rock garden.  We have had the paint donated by Lowes and now we are looking for river rocks.  If anyone knows any resources for some inexpensive river rock, please let me know.

Parents, please send a warm winter coats, gloves and shoes with your children to school.  We monitor the air quality and temperatures very carefully. We do not send students out to recess when the temperature (real or “feels like” is under 20 degrees) and/or if the air quality is not acceptable.  Students with individual needs can work out recess time with their teachers. It is really important that students dress warmly for recess. I your child is in need of a warm coat, please let me know.

The Utah State Board of Education posted information on each school’s performance data.  You can see how our school did by clicking the following link:

I am grateful to be able to work with such a wonderful community of students, teachers and families.  Thank you for all that you do to contribute to our school.

The following is community information:

“HOPE4OREM and Strive Behavioral Health & TMS are sponsoring a Mental Health & Suicide Awareness open house for individuals and families on Thursday, January 17 from 6-8 PM at Strive Behavioral Health (2520 N. University Avenue, Suite 250B, Provo).

The purpose of the open house is to share information and resources with the community on how to talk about mental health issues with loved ones and provide resources that can help those who are struggling or are in crisis.

HOPE4OREM is recognized by HOPE4UTAH and is a support and resource to the local Hope

The following information is for families in the Alpine School District:

We have recently become aware of two things our community partner, United Way, is doing to help families with limited internet access:

  1. Computer Labs. Computer labs in designated public libraries throughout the county are staffed at specific times with volunteers who can offer assistance in both English and Spanish.

  2. Adopt a Computer. Low income adults can earn a desktop computer by completing 10 hours of time in one of the computer lab help sessions. Computers come from donations and are wiped and cleaned before being given out.
