Good Afternoon OES Families, 

In honor of National Hat Day this Friday, January 15th, we are going to have a hat day, where students can wear fun hats, crazy hats, old hats, sports hats, etc. to celebrate!  Student Council will have prizes for those who participate.  (Hats attached to jackets that you just pull up don’t count.). So be sure to wear a hat on Friday!

Here are just a few reminders about the upcoming events:

Jan. 18th – Martin Luther King Jr. Day – No school

Jan. 27 – Teacher Supply Day – Families can help restock teachers classroom supplies.  Please see the attached link for a list of supplies needed.  Each teacher has a tab on the bottom of the document.

Jan. 29 – School Spelling Bee – Please see attached list.  Teachers will hold class Spelling Bees in class, and our final school Spelling Bee will begin at 9:30am.  This will be streamed to classes who wish to watch in their classrooms.

Coming up next month:

Parent Teacher Conferences: Feb. 3rd – 4th, 2021 More information will be coming.

Feb. 5th, 2021 – Consultation day.  There will be no regular school for students in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade, however, Preschool will be in session. 

Teachers will contact students to set up an appointment for interventions.  If your student does not have an appointment, they will not need to come to school. Students will be able to pick up breakfast and lunch for Friday the 5th on Thursday, February 4th.  Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. 

Here is some information from our PTA:

The Utah PTA Reflections Committee is excited to introduce a brand new contest for Utah students attending PTA schools. We are pleased to announce the launch of the Utah Reflections Theme Poster Contest. Three winners will be chosen and awarded Amazon gift cards. The 1st place winner will also receive a poster and the honor of his/her poster being used to promote Reflections throughout the entire state of Utah for the 2021-2022 theme “I Will Change the World by. . .”. 

Entries are due no later than 11 P.M. on March 1st, 2021. Enter as many times as you want!

HAPPY NEW YEAR OES Families,

Here are the following events happening at OES this month:

Transition from Special Education Preschool to Kindergarten

This presentation will explain how the transition from Special Education pre-school to kindergarten process works, including: assessment procedures, determination of needs, available placements, and timelines.

Transition from Elementary to Middle School/Junior High to High School

The transition from elementary to middle school and from middle to high school is bound to create some anxiety for students and parents. Join us for a discussion about what can be done to help ease the transition and prepare your student for success. Open to all parents who have a student who is struggling, on a Section 504 Plan or an IEP.

COVID TESTING Information

Alpine School District is offering Rapid COVID testing at three of our junior high/middle schools on January 6, 7, 13 and 14 from 3-7 PM. Testing will take place at Lehi Junior, Oak Canyon Middle and Vista Heights Middle. The testing is for anyone in the  community, including students, families and district employees. It is free of charge.

Dear OES Families,

We are into the final week of school before Christmas Break.  Here are a few reminders:

This Thursday, December 17th, we will be having a Christmas Mask contest.  Students can wear their favorite Christmas mask, decorate one or add decorations to one they already have. It can be silly, festive and/or original.  Each class will vote for the top 2 masks in each classroom.  Student council will bring awards around. 

Friday, December 18th is a minimal day.  

Breakfast and lunch will be served. 

School will be shortened for grades 1st – 6th.  Preschool and Kindergarten students will not come to school, but will have opportunities via email optional at-home activities developed by the district curriculum department.

The schedule for students in grades 1st – 6th is as follows:

Early Birds – 8:00am – 11:30am

Later Gators – 9:15 – 12:45pm

Our Spelling Bee is coming up.  Please see the attached list so your student can practice over the break if they want to participate.

The Christmas Break will begin 12/21/20 and we will resume school on Monday January 4, 2021.

On January 5th, 2021 we will have a spirit night at Chick-Fil-A.  The PTA will have more information.

I will be sending another email this week that will contain the grade level performances of our Christmas Carols.  We would like to extend a BIG thank you to Mrs. Hancock, Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Rindlesbacher for their expertise in helping us make this happen.

Good Morning OES Families, 

There are just a few reminders of some dates that are coming up:

December 18, 2020 – Minimal Day – Friday

Breakfast and lunch will be served. 

School will be shortened for grades 1st – 6th.  Preschool and Kindergarten students will not come to school, but will have opportunities via email optional at-home activities developed by the district curriculum department.

The schedule for students in grades 1st – 6th is as follows:

Early Birds – 8:00am – 11:30am

Later Gators – 9:15 – 12:45pm
