Good Afternoon OES Families,

Kindergarten Registration is Tuesday, March 30 and Wednesday, March 31 from 9:00am – 2:00pm.  Please see the following link about helping your child get ready for kindergarten.

Talent Show:  Now is the time to start preparing and practicing for the OES Virtual Talent Show. Spring break is a great time to get ready to share your talents. 

Mrs. Hancock will have sign-up sheets for you to perform and help you to prepare during Music Classes. April 19 -30. Students will share their talent during regular Music class. 

Keep the time limit to 2 minutes- piano, instrument, singing. No Family or guests this year, just the students performing for each other. (sorry) Any student can make a video of any talent and submit it to Mrs. Carter @[email protected]. Deadline for the OES Virtual Talent Show is 5:00PM May 7, 2021. 

Home Reading: Everyone who returns a signed book on Thursday will get a prize on Friday.

Don’t forget Spring Break is April 5- 10, 2021.  School resumes Monday, April 12, 2021.  Have a fun and safe break.

Dear OES Families, 

We are happy to inform you that we have had some new safety measures that have been put in place.  We now have a secure entry in which parents, volunteers and visitors will have to show their ID before they enter the building.  There have been cameras installed on both the front and back main entrances of the building.  Visitors can access the office to be let in by pushing a button on the outside of the doors and showing identification.  This will alert the office that we have a visitor.  

This adds to the safety and security of our students, faculty and staff.  We appreciate your support and patience as we implement this new feature in our school.  This week the doors will remain unlocked as they have been. 

Beginning Monday, March 29th, all school doors will be locked after the tardy bell rings.

Parents now have the option to enter their students’ full day absences on Skyward for absences anytime in the future during the current school year or 2 weeks back. Parents will receive an email showing that their request was either accepted or denied. Please see the following attachment for instructions: Online Absence Request for Parents Tutorial (2).docx

For the remainder of the year, we are going to start each school day with Mindful Minutes.  At 9:15am we will begin with a minute of mindful music.  After the music plays, a positive affirmation will read.  On Monday’s teachers will show a video to their class that goes along with our theme for the week.  The following is an example of what our Mindful Minutes each day will look like:

Positivity is my Superpower!

Definition of Positivity:Positivity is the frequent experience of pleasant emotions. Some of the most common are: joy, hope, gratitude, interest, serenity, pride, amusement, love, inspiration, and awe.  It is important to stay positive – even when things are hard.

Each day we will repeat the Affirmation and give examples of how to be positive.  By doing this we hope to accomplish a calm, peaceful start to the day that will help everyone focus with a positive attitude.

Many of you may have noticed that the recycle bins are no longer at the school.  The bins were not able to fully recycle because there were none-recycle items in the bins.   We have 2 trash receptacles that we use for our school.  Please do not put personal items in these bins – they are for school use only.
