Principal’s Message – April 16th

By Principal's Message

Good Afternoon OES Families,

We are excited for Teacher Appreciation week next week beginning Monday, April 22nd through Friday, April 26th.  The PTA has some wonderful things planned for our teachers.

It is time for School Community Council Elections.  This year we have two vacancies to fill with parent volunteers.  If you would like more information about School Community Councils, you can refer to the following website: http://www.schoollandtrust.org/parents-and-councils/

Here is link for information concerning the job descriptions:

http://www.schoollandtrust.org/parents-and-councils/job-descriptions/

If you would be interested in running for a position on Orem Elementary’s School Community Council, please email your name and a short bio that I can include on the ballot.  I will be accepting candidate names to be put on the ballot until May 1, 2019. After May 1, 2019 a ballot will be sent out to everyone for their vote for the two open spots on the council.  Parents will be notified by May 15th of the results.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me: [email protected] or Sharon Faragher our SCC Chair: [email protected]

Other than that, this is a pretty quiet week, however we have some community information below:

Principal’s Message – April 9th

By Principal's Message

Good Afternoon OES Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break.  This month is pretty quiet. Our Celebration of Arts Assembly will be Monday, April 15, 2019. We will have performances from our school choir, orchestra and our ballroom team. We will also have a display of artwork from the students in our school.

Thanks to Mrs. Hancock, Mr. Winters and Mrs. Heaton, we are able to have a great representation of the arts in our after school programs.  If your child will be in 4th – 6th grade next year and is interested in ballroom, please see the following attachment.

Also, if your child is interested in any of these programs for next year and money is a concern, please let me know.  Our goal is to give students as many opportunities as possible.

I would also like to give a big thanks to Stephanie Scott and Sean Seastrand for organizing and getting our art program up and running.  Also, thank you to all of the parent volunteers who serve as art docents and help make this program a success.

We will celebrate our teachers during “Teacher Appreciation Week” the week of April 22nd – April 26th.

Please check the lost and found for anything your family may be missing.  We have a ton of jackets and this week is supposed to get cold.

Registration for 5th grade students for Clear Creek for this summer begins tomorrow.  If you are interested, please see the following attachment.

Thank you for all you do for your children.  Have a fabulous week!

Congratulations to our Ballroom Team, they placed 2nd overall in the competition that was held at BYU!

Our 5th/6th grade team for Knowledge Bowl competed this weekend, we are still waiting for the results to see how we did.  More information will be coming.

Last week, your child received login information for Reflex Math.  This computer program helps students learn and reinforce math facts.  This program was purchased for the entire school using Trustlands funds and is a great tool to help our students master basic facts.
