Principal Message – October 30, 2019

By Principal's Message

October 30, 2019

Dear OES Families,

As you may have noticed, the weather has turned icy cold.  Please remind your children to dress for the weather. When the temperatures and wind chill are lower than 20 degrees and/or the air quality is not safe, we have an inside day where the students have recess inside. There are times when the temperature is above 20 degrees, however if the wind and/or precipitation make having recess outside extremely wet or unsafe for students we also have inside recess days.  However, most days are suitable for students to

go outside. Please send your children to school dressed appropriately for the weather.

Tomorrow, we will have our Halloween Parade at 1:00pm. Please remember that masks, excessive makeup, weapons and gory costumes are not allowed.  Individual classes will have celebrations. Classroom teachers will communicate specifics regarding classroom celebrations. Please remember that we try to keep this school day as normal as possible.

Christmas is just around the corner and we realize that some families may need some assistance through this season.  If your family is in need of assistance, please see the following flyers. You can also contact your child’s teacher or myself, Andrea Park.

We want to make sure our community that we serve has food, coats, (and other warm clothes), eye glasses, or any other essential needs are taken care of.  There are programs that can help, and I can get you in touch with the correct organizations. We try to meet the needs of our students, not only academically, but also the social/emotional piece and basic physical needs.

Thank you for your help, your volunteer hours and support of our teachers and your children.

Have a safe and fun Halloween!
