Principal’s Message – May 9th
It’s almost unbelievable that this school year is about to end. A few reminders about this week:
The voting for the school community council members closes this Friday. Make sure you vote. We have paper ballets in the office if you are not able to vote online.
We are still looking for students in grades 4-6 who would be interested in an after-school ball room dance class. We are trying to get some dances to come and demonstrate next week.
If you haven’t turned your library books in, please do so ASAP. (Home Reading library books as well).
Tomorrow is “Hope of America” for our 5th grade students.
Thursday, May 11, 2017 is our Kindergarten program at 6:30pm.
Thursday is also our Orchestra performance at Orem Jr. High. Orchestra students need to be at Orem Jr. High at 5:15pm and the performance begins at 6:30pm.
Here are some community resources and Information:
Here is our May Trauma Resilience Listserv! We have included a lot of different resources this month that you don’t want to miss! Make sure to check out Option B. This is a new book and website that has information and resources about grief, adversity, loss, and resilience.
Our class, “Parenting Children Through Stress & Adversity” is going to be on May 18th from 6 to 7:30 PM. This class will have a special emphasis on “Resilience Strategies.” If you have any questions or would like to attend, please email us or call (801) 229-1181.
If you know of anyone that might be interested in learning more about ACEs and how to be resilient in the face of adversity and toxic stress, please let us know! We offer free trainings in the community to schools, professionals, parents, and volunteers.
Have a wonderful week!
